Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By accessing or using LectoAI ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

LectoAI converts lecture PDFs into AI-generated summaries, flashcards, and quizzes for educational purposes. Generated content is provided as a study aid and may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying accuracy against official course materials.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at legal@lectoai.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload the Service
• Use the Service to cheat on assessments in violation of your institution's policies
• Share account access or resell the Service without permission
• Circumvent rate limits, security measures, or usage restrictions

5. Intellectual property

Your content: You retain ownership of PDFs and other materials you upload. You grant LectoAI a limited license to process that content solely to provide the Service (including transmission to AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy).

Our content: The LectoAI name, branding, software, and site design are our property. AI-generated outputs are provided for your personal educational use subject to these Terms.

6. Availability & disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free AI output, or compatibility with every PDF format.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LectoAI and its operators shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars (USD $50), whichever is greater.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, pose a security risk, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; provisions that by nature should survive (liability limits, IP, governing law) will remain in effect.

9. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing law
